While You Were Waiting ("Pirates of the Caribean: Curse of the Black Pearl")

At the beginning of the year there were two pictures that I wanted to do. One was a pic for the upcoming "Freddy Vs. Jason", and the other was Pirates of the Caribbean. The whole time I was planning it I was picturing Eric and Crispy dressed up like Pirates, waiting to get onto the Pirates ride at Disney World. And as you can see I sort of glossed over the whole costume theme, but for the most part it is exactly as I pictured it. And since the picture was done before the gallery opened, it was one of the few pics we managed to have up on time this summer.
Every time I draw a "non-Plight" Eric I go for the Japanese anime / manga approach that I feel really fits the characters. And Crispy himself just gets better and better with each drawing.
Speaking of old Crispy, it has been a long held tradition (okay, only three years, but still a tradition) to have Crispy show up in at least one picture for the Summer Blockbuster Gallery, but for those of you paying attention, he's been a regular this year. So in an effort to have at least one hidden cameo, I've put the criminally underused Cat Guy in line with the pair. Of course this is a joke that only Jake and I can truly appreciate, but its still worth the mention....
Still its a really good picture that just shows how much I've improved as an artist, and how much more I have to go. - Tony

(Note: Several years later this picture had a sequel entitled "Three Years Later".)
