"Three Years Later..." ("Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest")

..... ... ... ... ... ... ...

When Tony had to drop out of doing a sequel to our "Pirates of the Caribbean" homage, he asked if I would be willing to do him a favor. Back in 2003, when he was drawing an illustration for "Curse of the Black Pearl", Tony had it planned out to be a trilogy. He was certain Disney would green light another film. However, no one can truly predict how the box office will react so instead of setting himself up to look foolish in the future, Tony decided to keep his idea to himself until "Pirates 2" was a guaranteed lock. It was only until he realized he wouldn't have the strength to draw it that my friend approached me like Amerigo Bonasera to Don Corleone in "The Godfather" - pleading and begging I use his idea. "Please Jake. I ask of you to do this one thing for me."
The guy was going through chemotherapy. If he had asked me to donate bone marrow for him, I would have. To this day the memory of him hoping I could do him this important 'favor' still makes me chuckle.
As it turns out, we both looked foolish because his idea didn't just wind up to become a trilogy but a reoccurring gag which would continue over the years in a plethora of other movies based on Disney theme park rides in what we would call "The Pirates Ride Saga." - Jake
