Hellboy

"Hellboy" is (c) Mike Mignola

For the second entry in the ill-fated "FACE/OFF" gallery, Jake and I were planning on doing something outside of the comic book universe. But when it came down to our method of choosing (similar to closing your eyes and just pointing), we found that once again we've got a comic book character to draw. But all I can say is that at least its not Wolverine.
I must admit that I am not all that familiar with the character Hellboy. I've heard of the comic before, and have seen the character, but I would not quantify myself as a fan. Oh and I know that there is a movie coming out next year staring Ron Pearlman as Hellboy. So when it came down to drawing this character I was left with only a limited amount of resources to base my drawing on. Of course I had the internet so I was able to find more than I had thought.
As one of my drawings I rather like the way this one turned out. And as was one of the goals of this gallery, he is drawn in a style that is all mine. Some may complain that he doesn't really look like he's supposed to look, but I would have to disagree. All his trademarks are there from the broken horns to the drab gray overcoat.
So this is how my version of Hellboy would look. Cool huh? - Tony
