"Low-Carb Christmas"
Christmas 2010

Unlike some years when I'm racking my brain trying to figure out a way to depict Erik in his boxers, this time out was a breeze (no pun intended). To be honest, something tells me Tony and I came up with this idea years ago but abandoned it. Not sure why. Did we feel we'd be sued by a major beverage company if we went ahead with it? Who knows. But when it came to this year, it just made sense we homage what's become one of the most beloved commercials of the season. And if that praise is not enough to avoid going to court, I'm being serious when I say I can't stand Pepsi or RC or any of those 'other brands'. My days rely on the caffine kick of the Red and White label brands of delicious sodas. And give me a moment here as I check the balance on my Rewards program (yup, 706 points and counting!)
As for the picture itself, my biggest experiment was creating the illusion of ice. In the past my 'trick' was coloring a flat surface a blue color and adding a few slanted white lines across it. That sort of thing was okay years ago when I was just getting used to photoshop but nowadays it's just plain lazy. So I played around and this is what came of it. Sure it's still not the greatest ice effect but by reversing the image to reflect, breaking it up so every contact point touches, lowering the balance, and using a soft blue omni together - it all seemed to be a step in the right direction.
Other than that, I'm pretty impressed I managed to draw a somewhat decent looking polar bear on the first try. - Jake
