"Elevator Ride" ("The Hangover: Part 2")

Sometimes a week comes along when the selections of which movie to pick is slim at best. It also goes to say if a major blockbuster does open and we can't figure out an idea for the life of us, Tony and I always have the safety net to homage a smaller financed film. But I don't think we ever come across a case when two major blockbuster films are released and nothing else; not even on the art house or limited release circuit. Two major blockbuster films in which no creative thoughts spring to our minds. And to add salt to the wound, both were sequels we already covered with their predecessors. So unless we were going to take a break for the Memorial Day weekend, we were given "The Hangover" Part 2" or "Kung Fu Panda 2". There was no third choice.
Now if the cards weren't stacked enough against me, I was also putting myself in a personal corner. For the last three weeks the entries I did were more panels rather than pin-ups; satire more than homage; and I wanted to change it up a little by taking a break from setting up jokes. Unfortunately all I could come up with were jokes like Erik waking up with a hangover after taking a powerful drink called a "Kung Fu Panda". So after days dwelling on it, I took the next logical step and netflixed both of the original movies to see if something leapt out at me.
I was a half-hour into viewing "The Hangover" when a scene involving the three main characters and baby Carlos in an elevator came on. There was no dialogue or anything; just a brief scene of them looking completely broken. And not only did I think it'd be a perfect thing to homage, I appreciated it for the added layer it had relating to this whole experience of feeling completely lost. Sure there's mistakes I made but I'm still pleased with the end result. And heck, I even manage to get a little Kung Fu Panda in it too. - Jake
