"Rain Reward" ("Spider-Man 3")

Like the vast majority of summer movie seasons before it, 2007 began with the opening of a Marvel Comics flick: "Spider-Man 3". And typically, we would have been racking our brains trying to come up with an idea which didn't infringe on copyrights or trademarks. This time however, it'd be a cinch. Since the latest entry in the series was about Spider-Man being overwhelmed by an alien creature and becoming an evil version of himself (ala Venom), all we had to do was create a dark version of Erik; an evil Plight.
It was a simple idea. A good idea. A wholesome idea. But instead Tony and I decided to go down a more *ahem* immature path.
Anyone who has seen the first "Spider-Man" movie might remember the romantic scene where Spidey saves a very drenched Mary Jane from a bunch of thugs and winds up kissing her upside-down in the rain. It was one of the more memorable parts of the film and led to Tobey McGuire and Kristen Dunst winning 'Best Kiss' at the 2002 MTV Movie Awards.
According to the official novelization written by Peter David, their eyes were drawn to each other the whole time even though he was wearing a mask covering the top half of his face. But considering MJ was obviously not wearing a bra under her wet dress, how does anyone really know for certain he was looking in her eyes?
So instead of creating anti-Plight (Surrender?), Tony and I chose a more... lewd scenario. I say both of us because while we knew the evil Plight idea was safer, it was also clique. And because we thought this would be the last Spider-Man film to close out a trilogy, Tony brought up the fact "Well, we've been sitting on the nipple idea for two films. If we don't use it now, we might never use it."
So, we're using it. And I'm sure it made a few fans happy. - Jake

I'm glad it was you who drew it and not me. - Tony
