"Scenic Atlantis" ("Atlantis")
I didn't know where I wanted to go with this. Doing yet another fight scene would have felt like a cop-out and really, other than the continent sinking into the ocean, I had zero idea what the movie was about at the time. So, I decided on making a postcard. And by going in that direction, I knew I had to draw quite a few pictures. But I cheated. The result was separate pieces I had already done combined into a collage. Erik with the grumpy merman was bigger in the original. The picture of Erik underwater actually had him almost being attacked by a shark. The mermaid was really one of the rejected swimsuit pictures of Kari I did the previous year for an online community of artists. And while the majority was cropped off, the passable section of my underground city got into the drawing. The bottled air and writing were just filler. - Jake
