It Girl

This is a piece based on the character in Mike Allred's comic book, "The Atomics". It came about when I started asking people around for characters they'd like to see me try to illustrate. To my surprise, more than a few people said "It Girl" (of course, everyone I asked were regular comic book readers too.) Since I've been a big fan of Mr. Allred's work for years, not to mention my friend Alex Tam had just finished an It Girl picture of his own, it didn't take much effort to talk me into it.
The character's power is whatever object she touches, she absorbs that object's full properties. So I thought having her in contact with butterflies would fit well with It Girl's friendly sweet personality. It took me awhile to settle on whether to give her wings or not, but now that it's done, I'm glad I stuck to the original plan.
