"September 11th, 2001"

I realize that this particular picture is a bit tardy, posting it now doesn't really honor any set dates, or anniversaries. And to tell the truth it didn't start out being a "9/11" sort of picture in any regards.
It all began with the pose. Originally the drawing was meant to be horizontal, making Plight himself lying down or jumping. But I quickly realized that his body wasn't going to work in that position. The problem was that I really liked the way I had drawn him, and to toss it out just because the position he was in wasn't an ideal one would have been wrong. So I sat and pondered exactly how I could make his pose work in the context of a pin-up. And that is how I came up with him looking up to a poster, a sort of sad look on his face.
In this picture I also tried to make a contrast between the poster and the background. You'll notice that the poster is dark and the city itself is black, this signifies a "dark day". While at the same time everything around Plight is light and cheerful. This was my way of saying that while terrorists may try and scare us, nothing has really changed. The world is still a wonderful place. - Tony
