"Raise the Roof"
This was a sketch that was meant as a sort of 'stylistic' knock-off of one of our guest artists, Sehera. Jake had this tendency to go off about how talented an artist she is (which I agree with by the by), and how "detailed" her art is. Now when he mentioned 'details' he also mentioned an artist by the name of Geoff Darrow, a guy famous for giant robot drawings and super detailed inking not to mention the designer for the three "Matrix" movies. Now while Sehera is a talent, she isn't a Geoff Darrow. And well, neither am I.
So taking Jake's words to heart I set out to do a highly detailed ink drawing featuring the hero of our site Plight and, well, a giant robot. Not that the art doesn't translate well to the computer, but I was rather surprised by the outcome of the drawing. Using only a thick tip pen and a scanner, I drew this piece in about an hour and a half and I really only concentrated on Plight and the robot, which is why most of the background is really poor. But I feel if I had just a bit more time on my hands this one could've come out really well. – Tony
