"You're No Lady"
If there's one thing Tony admits defeat on about his drawing ability, it's having to draw women. He feels he's terrible at it and so whenever possible, he tries to avoid them like a member of the "He-Man Woman Haters Club". In perhaps the last ten years, I think I've only seen five drawings he's done of females; three of them by a stroke of luck appear on this website. No, you can encourage the boy all you want and he'll still be dead set he sucks at portraying the female form.
But that's not how I see it.
First of all, two of the female pictures he's done on this website have been about Eli. This one in particular is not a bad effort. In fact, it's a major improvement from the one he did a couple of pictures ago. But if the drawings are bad, it's not because he's bad at drawing women. Maybe he's just bad at drawing Eli.
The third was a collaboration I did with him for the Summer Blockbuster Gallery entry for "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle". I had pencilled the majority of the panels, but I left a few blank for him to experiment with. What he came up with was some pretty decent pictures that were done in my "style". So again, maybe it's not a case that he's bad at drawing women as it is he has trouble depicting them in my cartoonish-like look.
My point is: I just think he's freaking out over nothing. If there's anything wrong with this drawing, it's the fact Erik is hitting a woman. I personally wouldn't have drawn something like this; but then, she IS a villain and most likely he's just doing it in self-defense.
But as far as how he draws women? I really don't see the concern. - Jake
