"Mutual of Omaha Presents" ("X-Men Origins: Wolverine")

Ink Smudges: Jake and I came up for the admittedly juvenile premise for this joke while sitting in a theater a couple of months back trying to not only get ideas for this years gallery, but as well as come up with ideas to wrap up last years as well. I don't know where my mind was but the movie is called Wolverine Origins (or at least is WAS... until Fox stepped in and demanded it be rebranded to fit the entire X-Men film series. And the only thing that came to mind was those old nature shows on television after the Saturday cartoons were over. There were no qualms of showing the mating behaviors of any animals back then, and I doubt that has changed much either.
Granted we couldn't actually DRAW two wolverines getting it on, but the reaction a human viewer would have is just as priceless. My original idea was to have Erik and Kari and a couple of others actually IN the theater to see "Wolverine Origins" only to see a nature program instead. But Jake thought that there were too many "sitting around" pictures the last few weeks, so he set them in a museum instead. Not quite as funny, but the joke is still there I guess.
If there is any problem with this finished art I'll take all the blame, I went to bed with a fever that night and therefore didn't sleep very well. Ahh life! - Tony

Pencil Marks: Like Tony said, I decided to change the idea a little from what we originally had. HOWEVER, I will go on record as saying I never once heard the words 'movie theater' uttered from his mouth. Maybe that's because when I think of nature shows I think of programs on late night cable or during weekend days to fill the slot between info commercial A and yet another low budget sports blooper show. But now that the theater idea has been brought to my attention.... yeah, I think I do have to agree that would have been really good.
As a first entry of a new season, it was pretty average. There were things I could have approved on. Not as many reasons as Tony later pointed out to me, but little pieces here and there I wish I would have tried. And while my intent for setting it in a museum was to break it away from doing too many 'characters sitting in seats or couches' pictures in such a short span of entries, even I admit it has that all too familiar feel to it. - Jake
