"Gamma Throwdown" ("The Incredible Hulk")
Ink Smudges: When you have a lack of ideas about a project, you tend to also lack an interest in creating said project. Oh don't get me wrong, I love the Hulk. It’s just I didn't really feel like doing a Hulk picture. Still Jake worked hard brainstorming, so I at least had to put in my effort.
The combined total you see above. And while I'm not too proud of it, it still is a nice piece of art when it really could've ended up garbage.
My only real gripe with the finished work is that I screwed up by inking Erik with one type of pen, and then tackled the rest with another. If you look close enough you can tell the difference. A good thing that came from it though is I went out and purchased a set of professional quality pens that no one in my house is allowed to touch, which lend a new consistency to my work. - Tony
Pencil Marks: I wanted Tony to speak first so that I could say he was wrong. What I handed him was a half-ass sketch of Erik beaten up with a couple of miscellaneous items lying on the ground. I also included a pretty generic fist to the side. Sure, the brainstorming took me forever but the actual sitting down and penciling? No time at all. It wasn't my best effort and for all the badgering I gave him while he was inking it, I secretly wasn't getting my hopes up.
But I have to give credit where credit is due. First of all, it's extremely well colored. I can tell he tried some new things and for the most part, it came out real nicely. Second, he wisely erased my generic fist and replaced it with some of the coolest hands I've ever seen. If I could only give him one compliment on this, it's that he draws hands far better than I do. And finally, even though the lines on Erik are a little too thick, he still managed to get all the rips and cuts I placed on his costume.
If you ask me, it turned out pretty good. - Jake
