"Frontage Road to Adventure" ("Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull")

Pencil Marks:There are four movies I've always wanted to cover in this gallery. The Indiana Jones trilogy, specifically "Raiders of the Lost Ark", is one of them. To this day I can't think of a better movie that can top all the memorable scenes, dialogue, and has a better score than Raiders. It's easily one of my top five flicks of all time. But my appreciation doesn't just end with the movie itself. I can fondly remember watching it with my grandparents too, spending countless number of hours pretending to be Indiana Jones as a child, and digging deeper into who this John Williams fellow is and beginning a life-long love of movie soundtracks.
And I'm sorry; he can play a galactic smuggler, a fugitive, or Jack Ryan all his wants, but to me Harrison Ford will always be known as a "Professor of archeology, expert on the occult, and obtainer of rare antiquities".
So when it came time to do a picture on "Kingdom the Crystal Skull", there was so many ideas, I was actually contemplating doing TWO pictures. But in the end I settled with a fond homage to the Amsel and Dorman movie posters because it was also one of the ideas Tony had in mind as well. I guess what I like most about it is how all four movies in the series are represented in some way by how the characters are dressed. True, there are things I might have added now that I've seen it inked and colored, but it's still a really fine picture in my opinion. - Jake

Ink Smudges: When Jake handed me his finalized pencils for this pic I immediately wanted to paint it. Make it look like a true Drew Strewsan poster. Yet all my attempts failed. Miserably.
After those missteps I settled on the proper course of action by actually just coloring it to the best of my abilities. I was worried about getting the proper colors for Erik's outfit, because lets face it - its an iconic look. But with very little trial and error I think I hit it pretty good.
This is another one of those pics we did that just seem to work out perfectly. No complaints, both of us held up our end of the bargain and we had a picture to be proud of. - Tony
