"This Little Light of Mine" ("Batman Begins")
Pencil Marks: Every year I always tell Jake the same thing: "Dude (cause I say dude a lot) We've got to start drawing the Summer Blockbuster Gallery early, so that we don't have any delays!" And then Jake always replies the same way: "Indubitably" (yeah, he thinks his brains so big). And then I always sit down and draw up a picture, hand it to my pal, and then that’s it. Nothing else happens…. until summer when we're both scrambling to get the Gallery done and up in time. Of course the exception is that one picture I drew early; that picture when we get to take the week off. 2005‘s “early bird” picture was for “Batman Begins“; which I'm sure you all guessed since I'm mentioning all this in the rambling for the Batman Begins picture. So yeah, this one was done all the way back in January '05. It was just sitting around gathering dust-bunnies waiting for June 17th. Neat huh?
I really didn't set out with any sort of goal in mind. It was really just a spur of the moment picture. But as soon as I drew Erik, I knew that I'd have to do the bat signal, and after that there would have to be a Batman, and well that’s pretty much all I drew.
Admittedly I handed Jake this picture with no background, and not even an idea of what Erik was supposed to say. I commend Jake for doing such a good job making this picture presentable.
God, one of these weeks we're gonna have to stop kissin each other's behinds. I think it will be next week. Yeah, next week’s picture looks so darn good because of ME! I did it! Jake didn't do ANYTHING to improve it! Ha ha ha ha ha ha!! - Tony
Ink Smudges: There's some things that came out good; and then there's some that came out bad. But all things considered, I think I did a pretty good effort. I wanted to keep Tony's cartoonish aspects intact since this picture is just one big gag. And I was happy to see the lines are still clear even with the various shades of gray this picture required. But what I'm most proud of is how I managed to get the lighting effect for the signal without obscuring any area around both figures with reflection dots. - Jake
