"Kau Low" ("The Day After Tomorrow")
There's just something about disaster films I can't quite shake. Maybe it's because most of them rely on plots so far fetched that they couldn't possibly happen. Or maybe it's the allure of seeing famous sites such as the White House or the Las Vegas strip being blown up. Or maybe it's because, at this exact moment that you're reading this, on some basic cable channel (most likely one owned by Ted Turner), the "Poseidon Adventure" is playing.
The point is there's something that reels us in to disaster films, which is why this particular illustration was pretty fun. I went through a dozen things to draw - from tornados to earthquakes to houses being sent up to OZ - and narrowed them down to the ones that fit the theme of the picture. Okay, that and which ones came out looking good. And I think I accomplished my goal.
Plus I got to throw a flying tire in there. You've GOTTA have the tire; it's a must! - Jake
