"Title Bout" ("Freddy Vs. Jason")
As a kid my favorite genre of films was the horror genre, more specifically the "slasher" flick. Both the "Nightmare On Elm Street" and "Friday the 13th" series were amongst my favorites. And in my Junior and Senior High days whenever I sat down to doodle, it usually ended up a nice sketch of Nightmare's Freddy Krugger. In fact I have oodles and oodles of Freddy drawings in some box tucked away in a storage closet. One could say that Freddy was my inspiration. Of course after Freddy came GFC, and then came Plight. So when word that this film was coming out and gonna be released within our "Summer Blockbuster" timetable, I KNEW I had to draw it. I mean how often do you get a chance to relive your childhood?
Putting aside all those "watching those gory flicks as a kid might have damaged your mind" comments, I knew the instant I heard the title what this picture should be. Plight, Freddy and Jason in a knock down, no holds barred fight. In a graveyard, at night. You see what happens when stuff just feels right?
As far as the picture goes, it has been a while since I have drawn old Fred, but I captured the original character just right. No offense to Robert Englund, but Freddy was never intended to have a personality. In the original film he was a face-less killer. That’s how I always draw him. And so is the case now. This also happens to be one of the first times I've sketch Jason, who turned out pretty good IMO. In fact I think this whole picture is pretty damn good. But enough of my modesty:
