"Marco!" ("Finding Nemo")
When I did this picture, it wasn't meant to be used as a Summer Blockbuster pic. It wasn't meant to have any connection to "Finding Nemo". Heck, it wasn't even meant to be posted at all! It was just a little sketch I did at Tony's house one Saturday while the two of us and Katie were drawing on the table. But the more I looked at it, the more I felt it deserved more. And considering "Nemo" was about life undersea, I figured what the heck. So just this once, if you’re going to tell me I didn't put any thought into it, I‘ll completely agree with you.
However, I did put a little more thought into how to color it. You might notice the piece seems a little blurry. That's because I experimented with a Sympion device. For those of you who don't know what that is, it was a machine resembling a 'light table' you connect to your computer, and giving it a color palet to work on, the table actually prints the color onto your original document with a laser. If you've ever used one of those automatic Hallmark machines where you custom design your own greeting card, it's very similar to that. As you can see, it’s not really that impressive and the invention had a short lifespan in the public before it was labeled a failure.
Looking back at it now, I wouldn‘t say the picture is good. I wouldn‘t even call it decent. But it was an experiment and I stand by that. - Jake
