"Dark Holidays: Valentine's Day"
2002

This was my second collaboration with Sehera and the first of four holiday pictures where she came up with an idea, I pencilled it, then handed it back to her to ink. It became a really fun experience for me, especially when the pictures got more and more better (not to mention more extravagant). I was amazed at how she was able to think of these really crazy ideas in no time flat while I'm the type of person who needs a little time for inspiration to hit him. I was also impressed with how she was able to take my no-detailed pencils and flesh it out until no 'white space' would show. Although it's apparent in this Valentine's Day piece we were still trying to work off each other's strengths, it captured a different aspect from anything I could do. And while I've heard from some this picture is too small and simple, I like it if for no other reason than the fact she was, and still is, a true friend for doing these with me in the first place. - Jake
