Anthony Yauther
"Refreshed"
I was first introduced to Anthony Yauther when during an online Valentine Day art project. It was a weird experience where artists were paired up with someone else and exchange pieces with each other that involved or was related in some way to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Because my participation bended a few rules (I already had someone who wanted to be my partner, Kari is not a amphibian who is trained in Ninjitsu, etc) I was asked to help cover for someone in the event they were unable to hold up their part of the exchange when February 14th came around.
So I ask you: who would not want to receive a pin-up from Anthony Yauther? The man is talented! Perhaps his partner felt a little intimidated by his extraordinary skill and thought they couldn't possibly be able to measure up? Fortunately I didn't have to compete. All I had to do is make up for his partner who missed the deadline. I wasn't in this to get a piece back from him nor was I ever expecting to. So with some of the weight already off my shoulders, I brought my "A" game to the table by drawing a picture of his own original character with Kari. And other than a logo on Kari's t-shirt, the final piece had nothing to do with the Ninja Turtles.
But along with being incredibly skilled, Anthony is also very generous. Like I said, he didn't need to do one in return but I'm very honored he did. It's perhaps one of the most mature pieces we've posted on this site, but unlike some of the other illustrations in here, it's done tastefully without being solely for the sake of T&A. Besides, it would be a crime not to share this with the world.
Of course now that Anthony has turned this into an art exchange, I'm a little intimidated by his extraordinary skill and feel I was never able to measure up. *lol* - Jake
