Sehera # 3
"Dark Holidays: St. Patrick's Day"
This was the second "Dark Holiday" picture Sehera and I collaborated on and her all-time favorite. Right off the bat we wanted to avoid the whole 'Kiss me I’m Irish' thing because A) pretty much every Plight drawing that was posted thus far that year had been about romance or kissing and B) we both agreed Erik getting drunk off his ass would be a new approach. Again I handled the pencils after Sehera gave me ideas on the layout, but this time around she wanted me to add in more details such as all the shot glasses and the cloverleaf border. It was a request that proved I had gotten lazy because I spent an entire day drawing, erasing, and reworking everything so the picture maintained a fair sense of proportion on just those minor things. A few days later she sat down to ink it, and when she did, she spent nearly three hours! Now, there’s no doubt in my mind when she was finished her hand must have really ached. But I never heard her complain. She just handed the picture to me with a smile and said "I really like how this turned out". Talk about class. - Jake
