For years Kaitlin has been calling Erik "Clark". No matter how many times I've corrected her, she just laughs and keeps going with it. "That's a cool drawing of Clark", "You should draw a picture of Clark at a Haunted House", etc, etc. She knows what his name is suppose to be, but Katie has never let up because she knows it gets a rise out of me (it's all in fun - I'm never seriously riled up about it). So because of all the many years of abuse from an all-too mischievious young lady, it was pretty much decided Erik doesn't have a last name, but he certainly has a middle one.
Which makes it all the more surprising that she named him Eric in here.
Never mind it was the wrong spelling; this is the first time she's ever referred to my creation by the right name. And it might sound dopey, but that really did a number on me. Such a tiny insignificant thing that's been a long standing joke with the two of us; from a picture she just handed to me out of the clear blue.... it meant a lot to me so much I was ready to take her to the store and buy her that PSP she's always wanted right there.
Sentimentality aside, this is a cool picture and it's a huge kick to see her art vastly improve over the years. I compare all the stuff she's done to things I drew when I was her age and it's no contest - she's honestly ahead of me. She does a great rendition of Erik and I should point out this was the first time she's ever drawn Kari! - Jake
